I have seen many graded coins that have letters/numbers/characters in unexpected locations on a coin that are not part of the design nor the devices. What do the graders say? I see scores of graded MS/PF coins with 'extra features' and oft times wonder about their origin. How do they get there and why? Thanks in advance, J

Also, if you have any images of coins with the additional features, please post them. I lost my unusual coin files some time ago. Thanks again -J

It's called paradalia, the tendency of the mind to "see" things that aren't really there in random data. The mind takes the random data/image and "forces" it into something familiar that it does recognize.

Yep, Pareidolia, Has fooled many a numismatist into thinking they have an OMM or DMM.
