I can't get the images any clearer than what you see. It's exactly how the coin looks.

It weighs 4.43 grams and is thick as a dime.

Looks like it was etched in nitric acid. Just a damaged coin, still worth $0.25.

So does the acid remove the ridges on the rim
and thins out the coin therefore making it weigh less than normal?

Acid damage. The acid attack's the copper more than the Nickle.

Yep, if it was the wrong planchet, the design will be cut off by the small planchet.
