Yes they look better than a detailed coin but $800 for an F12/15 classic head isn't appealing.

A classic head cent (1812) in F12/F15 condition should go for about $500-$600. Not $800.
The issue is that prices have escalated a lot over the last 10-20 years or so. Had you started you set in the late 90's or early 00', you could have bought these coins for less than half of what they are going for now.

Sadly Mr. Numis,

My time machine is broken

If you could get them from me from the 90's I'll gladly pay you what they cost

Well in terms of good news I wrote my last check for 1 of the 4 coins missing. My most expensive coin for the 7070. Hopefully by early next week, I can provide an update.

And in other really great news, a very generous collector helped me get a coin that I was missing. When my family moved to the US, a very generous person gave me a few coins that started me on my collecting journey. Another very nice and caring person helped me finish a set that I started 45 years ago. That one is also coming early next week, but that coin needs it own thread. So be on the look out!

It's been almost two week's since we've heard from you. For a moment I thought you gave up on coins, and started a stamp collection!

Since the coin I ordered cost more than my budget, I did start collecting stamps. I collected 3, but I had to attach each one to an envelope

NUMBER 4

Only 3 more to go. My most expensive coin in the 7070 and also my oldest US Coin.

Of the Draped Bust the 1803 and 1802 are the most common with the 1803 Small Date Small Fraction having ~ 177 certified. The majority of these coins are detailed, so having a no issues one was important. Still costly, but with this one only 3 more to go. The reverse marks are on the slab.

GREAT!!!!! Unlike the more common one you described (Large Date, Small Fraction), yours apparently is the much less common Small Date, Large Fraction. Correct?

Don't rush on your other three needed to complete your Dansco 7070. Make sure you're happy with each of those three as well.

Steve

@Winesteven, the Small Date /Large Fraction is not as common as the Small Date/Small Fraction with only 105 being certified (about 40% less), but the rarest of the 1803's is the large Date/Small Fraction with only 3 being certified.

I updated the post (I had entered the wrong amount certified).

Real nice planchet. PCGS seems to be really hit or miss on their 1803 Large Cent grading but I think yours is real nice. If you remember mine and the hilarity of that thing's journey feel lucky.

Grape, I paid more for this one as the Planchet actually had no issues. So many of the Draped Bust Large Cents are corroded or have environmental issues that its tough to find one with out issues at a fair price. Although I may question whether the price was truly fair, but with the costs going up, I was happy to get it. Charmy (the Penny Lady) was also excellent to work with so I would gladly do business with her again.
