Hello,

My first post here was in October of 2008 as I was first starting the hobby of Numismatics. My last post was over 2 and a half years ago. I recently went through every post I have ever made on here and it amazes me to see how far I have come. I started collecting coins at age 29 and am now 41, but, not a lot has changed.

I still only collect:
Annual Proof Sets
Modern Proof Commemorative Coins
First Spouse Bronze Medals
American Silver Eagle Bullion Coins
Presidential Silver Medals (New)
Annual Mint Sets (New)
American Innovation $1 Coins (New)

I have learned to relax and find what works best for me. I use a spreadsheet for inventory, I have learned that the only coins I need to use silver spot pricing for is the ASE coins, I don't take pictures of my coins unless I want to show them off and to take pictures I no longer scan or worry about the "perfect" picture, I use my I-Phone and do the best I can.

Before starting to collect something new I do as much research as possible, whether that be using a book or online resources. When I do use a book I read up on the basics from the book like a novel and use the rest of the book as a reference guide.

As JBuck and Just Carl can attest to I'm NEVER afraid to ask questions regardless of how silly or mundane they may seem and I have also been known to ask the same question multiple times and sometimes in multiple ways, but, I'm also more patient now.

I now know that if I don't know something, I don't have to become an expert, I just have to trust in my resources and get the information I need and leave everything else alone.

Thanks Coin Community Family

Welcome Back! Some nice collecting themes! As far as taking coin pics, I have an app on my iPhone called Magnifying Glass with Light (written by Falcon in Motion) which has been really helpful. You can adjust the magnification, light the object (it uses the built in light for the camera), and then take a picture. They probably have one on Android too. Hope that helps and good luck!
