Hello I'm in the same boat as you because I found a 1993 quarter that is just like yours...I took my to a appraisal & he said that someone did that to my quarter but I see that there is others like mine... have you found anything about your quarter? I don't know how to put a picture on here?

Hello Charlie I think you & I need each other about our coins because we have coins that are almost exactly alike but all the answers I keep getting don't match. It's like we need to show them that our coins are Error coins...I have a 1993 D Quarter that's just like yours but they say.. it's a Dryer Coin... so our coins would have to have went through the same dryer six years apart... the coins they showed me looked more like Washer coins because they looked like they went through the washer not the dryer...but I think we need to get in touch with each other because then we would have more proof to show them they are Error coins.. people said they would not let those out of the mint like that but they let all the other error coins out so why couldn't they of missed these coins...I would put my number on here but I don't want people calling me... but would like to hear from you... thanks

I tried to take better pictures so you can see my coin better . And I am trying to show you that I have the same little indent that's pressed into the rim the same as yours but yours is at the top and mine is at the bottom but that was pressed into the coin when it was made but your coin shows me that there is another coin like mine they are just 6 year's apart

This quarter is definitely damaged. These are called Dryer Coins but I imagine there are other machines they could have been caught in as well. It could also have been intentionally damaged by tapping it around the edge, this is called "spooning". Either way it is just damage.

Can we please start our own topics instead of bringing up an old one? Thanks.

@kevin , best practice is to start a new thread for each new coin. However, since you believe that your coin may be linked to a previously-posted quarter, here is a link to that other thread: http://goccf.com/t/364391

Thanks Spence...I don't know how all this works... this is the only place I found that I can say something...& This guy has a quarter just like mine but 6 year's apart..see I read what people are saying but if people looked at our coins they are made like that... so he has the only coin that's almost exactly like mine but the little indent that's in the rim is at the top and bottom so our coins came from the same press...how can I get in touch with the guy who has the 1999 quarter because I need to talk with him... because I've looked up all of the answers that people are saying but none match but thanks

Quote: how can I get in touch with the guy You can send him an email through CCF by clicking on the "email poster" link. It sorta looks like an open envelope on top of a sheet of paper. However, you both need to have this option selected in your profile.

Think about it, how could your coin and the original posters coin have come from the same dies, to make the same mark on the edge when they are different dates? The date is part of the die. I don't personally care for the Dryer Coin term, I feel there are other ways the damage can happen as well but damage it is. If you don't like the answers here, you can always have your coin sent to one of the professional third party graders for authentication. It will cost you though and you will get the same answer you got here.

Not the best of pictures but it looks like either an early stage Dryer Coin or some one had started to spoon it to make into ring. In either case it is PMD, not an error.
