Good morning. Yesterday I received another 2007 utah quarter. Aftet comparing the 2 coins I noticed that the trains were different. Did they make 2 different patterns? Here are the pictures of the 2 coins I compared with each other.

Given the photos posted, I'm not immediately seeing any design difference--there may be a difference in the amount of circulation wear (and dings) between the two. Well-lit photos showing the trains at the same size would help. Thanks.

Bottom pic looks like maybe a die chip at the back of the train? Need close up pics. What are you seeing as different? John1

If it is a experimental planchet then I have a out 100 of them. I assumed they where put over heat and caused that. I was debating if I was going to put them in a roll and bank to the bank, but I'm not sure if I should let loose of them. I'm curious about this also. I have seen quite a few post on these coins.

Whenever you post a coin and say there is a difference, error, etc., you should explain the difference you are seeing.

The trains are the same, the devices are weaker on some die states, making some devices weaker on some dies and coin struck by those dies:

Thank you for the pictures. I had took pictures of all the letters the E & D in united that A in states and on the back in the word Utah it doesn't do it with any other letters which is weird. Even the 1896 is a little funky. I appreciate the patience everyone on this app has displayed. This weekend ill be ordering books on varieties. Thanks again for all of your help.

Quote: Is This A Experimental Planchard Back to your title, what makes you think an "experimental planchard" was used in your coin? You mentioned a difference in trains, but what about the planchet, in your opinion?

Good morning. I have looked on line about experimental planchards. Actually while looking for information about the quarter I ran across a picture of the Delaware experimental planchard. It looks nearly like the one I have. Same in color gold yet I have that darker tone to mine. Is there a certain weight or diameter I can check.
