One from India came in today - actually originated in India too. I have it in Acetone to remove the tape residue on it that the seller put on it to attach a string - for what I have no idea, it certainly would not have held on to be a neckless..

I'm mystified as to why the seller taped string to your coin - hopefully you took a pic. But I've had sellers do idiotic things when shipping coins, such as taping them loose to a piece of paper.

Nope, no picture of the string or tape - I wanted to save my film and keep my developing costs down. But I have also gotten coins in 'painters tape' before as well..

The date on that Rupee looks off.

That's normal for the rupee that year, CalzoneManiac. But India's other coins from 1962 have the date numerals mostly the same size, as on the 10 Naye Paise.

Yep that is correct. I verify every coin I get against numista.com for accuracy

Interesting. I do not see too many of that type in coin lots so maybe that's why it looked so funny.

Well I got from my Secret Santa a coin that upgrades one that I already had a 1962-turkiye - 2½-Lira from a 1 Lira coin!
