I purchased another bulk purchase close to $2300 of Kennedy half dollars and have no time to go through them . Are they worth holding onto or just sell them back to the bank ?

Unless they are silver or have a desired variety they are worth 50 cents each and will never gain numismatic value regardless of how long you hold onto them.

That is heartbreaking, would the bicentennial coins be worth more than face value?

Well, if you could give each Kennedy half one second, you could give the 4,600-coin batch a cursory glance in a little over an hour. That way, you could at least pull out the 40 and 90% silver, along with any collector's strikes (e.g. 1987 and 2002 to present) and proofs that have slipped into circulation.

The short answer would be No. They made so many bicentennial half dollars unless it graded MS-68 or higher other wise they are worth face value

You should at a minimum look thru them for 90% and 40% silver.

After going to the trouble of picking up so many Kennedy halves, at least pull out the silver coins from the 1960s; any halves with an "S" mint mark; and any coin with a 21st century date (20xx). That'll be a quick way to grab just about everything worth keeping for closer examination (or the junk silver pile). Keep us posted on what you find (when you have time to take a look)!

Ok so after 20 rolls I have found 1 1964 Kennedy half and 2 40% Kennedy and roughly 13 Kennedy halves between 2001-2015 and some were at the end of the roll and have toning. Is that a bad thing.

Nice finds, @Coins2020. At today's silver bullion prices, the 1964 Kennedy half is worth about $9.50 and the 1965-69 coins are worth about $4.00. Any Kennedys from 1987 and 2002 to 2021 were not released for general circulation -- just at a slight premium in rolls and bags to collectors and dealers, with relatively low mintages of 1.7 to 6.1 million. Any halves with an "S" mintmark were proof strikes that have somehow slipped into circulation (e.g. people inherit coins and just turn them in to a bank). Most of the remainder, with a few exceptions, can go back to the bank. Hope you find more good stuff!
