Actually, they should replace the current portrait on the cent with one like that, just like they did on the nickel.

Quote:With a mintage limit of only 500,000 coins across Proof and Uncirculated, this coin could easily become a big winner. Demand could quickly outstrip the supply, especially in a year when the Lincoln Cent is getting it's first design face-lift in 50 years. Add to this the popular sentiment towards Barack Obama and the associations between what Obama has accomplished and what Lincoln stood for, and there could easily be a public frenzy to acquire this Lincoln Silver Dollar issue. It's going to go for at least $25 $10 to Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Comission $1 face Value $8 silver (0.7736 oz) Costs of production and marketing

I believe that the prices will be the same as the 2008 commems($37.95/$43.95) As an aside, I wonder if the Mint will do a special release event like they do with some commems? Obviously, the place to do an event would be Springfield, IL and I will already be in town on Feb 12 for the bicentennial festivities

The mint says that this coin is a tribute to the anniversary of Lincolns birth. Why then, is there no reference to that, on the coin?

Im wondering why the Silver Eagles are .999 and these comm's and others are 90% silver ? Neither are made for circulation so why not .999?

.999 is the normal mixture for investment bullion, where it is expected to be as pure as possible. Even though the eagles are non-circulating legal tender and can be used as such, their primary purpose is as investment bullion.
.900 (90%) is the normal mixture for circulating US Silver. The 10% copper makes them more durable, which non-circulating bullion does not require. Even though they are also non-circulating legal tender, they are still made to those specifications as a matter of tradition.

jayceeg.......First, when you want to make a reply to "anything"......go down to the bottom of the page at the end of all replies. DO NOT just start typing in the "Quick Reply" area message box at the bottom of the page. Click on "Reply to Topic". Then when that screen comes up, you will see your reply screen to type in. At the top you'll see "Format" (with a B, I, U,etc etc etc. All the way over to the right (2nd from the end is a white box with a red arrow coming off of it. That is your "Quote box" icon. When you want to make a quote, click the quote box and then come down in your "typing area" and click again. The word "qoute" spelled out twice in parenthesis will appear. Quote: (quote quote) You will click between these two words and insert your "copied and pasted quoted" That should get ya !....

If you want to quote using the Quick Reply, then you can type [quot e] before and [/quot e] after the text you want to quote. For Example: [quot e]text to be quoted[/quot e] Will show up as Quote: text to be quoted
