@ape, that isn't a typical place for a die clash, so I'm going to guess that it is just damage. Can you please post full pics of the front and back of this coin to this thread as that may give us extra perspective? Thx.

Just circulation damaged. A die clash affects the fields, not the bust or devices unless it is a monster clash. What does a monster clash look like?

I'm thinking this one clashed twice in a row. It is the only example I know of that you can see the date clashed into the fields.
