Would requesting the picture of the SGS slabbed 1800 dollar be too much?

I honestly didn't know you could send coins to SGS, I thought he just graded his own coins... Time to send in my 1909-s VDB Lincoln and my 1877 Indian head! They might just get MS-71...

Quote: I love SGS. I have 3 coins slabbed by them and I love them all this was just the most expensive one. Let me make this clear, and I hope you will not find it offensive. SGS is not a trustworthy third-party grader. They are the alter ego of a specific ebay seller who does sufficient volume to have flooded the market with SGS slabs, creating the appearance of respectability through sheer volume. No knowledgeable numismatist will trust any opinion rendered by this company, and the authenticity of any coin in an SGS slab cannot be relied upon.If you believe otherwise, it is because you have not yet learned who can and cannot be trusted in this hobby. Do not believe me, on my own. Go to any numismatic forum, and ask the same question. You will hear the same answer. In the meantime, please do not endorse SGS here at Coin Community. We do not want our membership misled into believing that SGS is a legitimate grader.

Quote: I sent them to SGS because I've heard they are excellent with authentication, but not grading. Not to mention they were very cheap. I've heard that about SEGS, but not SGS. I assume we are talking about the notorious SGS, and not SEGS?

Seriously.. tell us how you really feel! But all joking aside, any coin in an SGS slab is more likely to be looked upon as fake (even vilified!) or not worthy in ANY manner because of SGS's reputation. SuperDave was very blunt, but it's a point worth taking now before it costs you more money later. We're all about learning here, and believe me.. we've learned this one. We can only try to pass it on and hope nobody else loses money to that.. 'company'.

And jbuck.. Quote: I have to admit, I would probably pay $3 for a fake just to have one Me too! But I can only hope I know it's one before I buy.. at least I'd be like the cat that runs smack into the sliding glass door.. "I knew that was there, I knew that was there.. I was just testing, man!"

Isiah, There are instructions on how to upload pics to this site. Just make sure that their size is less than 100K. Original coin is still fake Would love to see yours!

Also, I was quite aware of the bad reputation that SGS had. I have been a repeat customer at their ebay store (aboncom) purchasing things such as an authentic MS 60 racketeer gold plated nickel, and a Proof 70 Dolley Madison Silver dollar.

Quote: and a Proof 70 Dolley Madison Silver dollar. thats probably a PF-68 if it was graded correctly. I have seen many of their 70's with marks on them that would stop them from even being a 69 with the top tiered graders. But if you want to keep wasting your money you go right ahead but don't expect knowledgeable collectors like we have here on this forum to follow suit because we all know you will be the one left out in the cold when it comes time to cash in all your "SGS Treasures"

actually Bryan, I am a collector, not an investor so I couldn't care less what you or anyone else were to offer for them, they will not be "cashed in", they will be kept for my collection, also I'll post the auction photos of that Proof 70 silver dollar, then you will, see how stunning and beautiful it is.
