I found this 1976 D dime looks messed up . But I know some coins can be an error and look like this.can someone please help me.

This looks like a case of damage after the strike. The coin shows lots of shearing and metal movement that wouldn't be found on an error coin.

Given the soft (low resolution?) photos, the dime appears to have a high degree of environmental damage, not to mention circulation wear (dings, hits, etc.).

The technical term is: Gunk. Environmental build-up of dirt and "stuff" combined with post mint damage ( PMD) and you have your coin. Not a mint error, sorry. Keep searching!
