shathe Valued Member United States 178 Posts	Posted 06/02/2021 7:35 pm wondering what went on here. any info/ideas? very thin layer of metal running all around the edge on the obverse, the edge of the coin is smooth all around the coin and has no reeding. (hard to take pics due to the fragility of the metal layer.) Report this Post to the Staff

We often see flattened areas in the middle of the coin and metal "smushed" over from the edge onto the fields near the rim.
