I need help I used PCGS as a reference guide... I'm just winging it here aaauuummm XF-40 to VF-35 for my 1946 D nickel mabey VF-30 the reverse looks great the obverse not as much

VF-30 . Adam just to let you know , when you grade a coin using PCGS Photo Grade , EF-40 is one grade higher than VF-35 . Example : VF-20, VF-25, VF-30, VF-35 ,EF-40,EF-45 . Always grade from the lower numbers to the higher numbers . Hope this makes sense to you .

I agree with VF30.

Adam - it's also good numismatic scholarship to describe a coin by date and mint. Your coin has a D mintmark so it was minted in Denver. A more accurate title would call this a 1946-D nickel.
