The 8 reales from Central American Republic is quite interesting, in that the edge design is that same as that on the bust-type 8 reales from colonial Spain. The 5 volcanoes you see on the coin represent the 5 provinces that made up the republic (Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua). Report this Post to the Staff
