Hi all, looking at my 1921s, Noticed a couple that may be PL. I dont know much about what to look for etc, so hoping for your thoughts. This the first. Is it PL? Realize photograph quality is important, if these aren't good photos I will try again. There will be a second coin in a separate thread

Does not look PL and the staining takes away the eye appeal, IMHO.

PL 1921 Morgans are very uncommon. Yours shows some signs of cleaning, which may make the surfaces more reflective.

As noted above from photos, the coin does not appear to be PL. Mirror depth is difficult to pick up from photo when trying to determine if a coin is PL. A proof like coin needs 2" to 4" of mirror clarity. On a PL, the frost on devices is not a written requirement but the contrast between devices and fields does helps get the coin graded PL. From photo a PL coin can be shown with black fields and contrast devices. Below is a photo of how a coin can be shown that it is PL:

Again I am in the same boat as on the Denver 1921 you posted, not PL and not even mint state. I'd grade this coin at EF45 to AU53.
