I was trying to convert the lira to US Dollars and it wasn't making any sense so I figured maybe you guys may know a little about it. How much is 50000 lira worth in the US? Anything you may know about this coin would be amazing.

According to numista, it is worth around a buck in this condition:

Of note is that the old Lira was demonetized by six zeros in 2003/4.

So, IF it were still legal tender, and because the current excnage rate is 1 new lira = $0.12, you have:

50,000 old lira x (1 new lira/1,000,000 old) x $0.12/ new lira = $0.006

So it's worth less than a cent in exchange value.

As mentioned, this coin was demonitized and is no longer accepted in everyday transactions. I did read this, however, about converting old lira:

Quote:
From 1 January 2006 onwards, any remaining old lira has to be converted at either the Turkish Central Bank or T.C. Ziraat Bank branches.

As far as I know this type was only ever sold to collectors, it could not be found in everyday change.

Yes good point @andyg. This is listed as NCLT.

Turkey has suffered from really severe inflation.
I travelled the length of Turkey along the Black Sea coast, way back ion 1970.
At that time, the largest and heaviest circulating coin was a 2 1/2 Turkish Lira.
