Forget looking at the date, there are easier clues for this one:

People stare at Machine Doubling on the date. Forget that area. The 1968-1972 cents we filled with Machine Doubling. So much so that most of the real DDO-001's, have Machine Doubling:

(Note the yellow arrows) Machine Doubling on a doubled die. The machine can alter normal die and doubled dies. It all happens at random. Note on these 4 examples, the MD is not the same from coin to coin. The hub doubling is the same, but the machine damage to these coins are different, but always flat and reducing an outside/inside edges of the devices.
