2019 American Memorial Park Mint Error?

Demi New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 10/19/2021 5:19 pm Hi Everyone, I am a new member and just started collecting coins. I mainly look for circulated State Quarters. I noticed that on my 2019 American Memorial Park quarter there is a mark on the girl's cheek and on other coins it is not there. Could this be a mint error on this fairly new coin? The mark on the cheek is nothing more than something else, probably another coin, hitting the cheek and causing a small indentation. This is called post mint damage or PMD. Now, if that same little area on the cheek was a raised piece of metal, granted nothing hit the cheek and caused metal displacement in an upwards fashion, that would be called a die chip. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/20/2021 1:25 pm If it were a die chip it would be raised. But 99% of incuse marks on a coin are from damage in circulation. Only 1% are mint errors. Knowing what to look for is what you should read up on. (Or ask a question about?) Knowing what you are looking at will help speed up your coin searches. Damage to a coin doesn't increase the value of a coin. If it did, we would have no change at all. They all get beat up out in the wild. Report this Post to the Staff
