I came across this 1944 s the other day.
Sorry for the semi clear photos. I can take better ones if it's something that needs it.

Does anyone know what this is from?

My first thought was vending machine but the marks are in the planchet and not over it. I know it almost looks on top in the photo but looking at it under magnification. I see no gouges or marks on the letters. Cheers.

looks like Feeder Finger Damage to the die.
