Canadian coins is not my area. I think your coin is MD and would be considered a variety not an error.

A fairly common place for MD on Canadian coins, I see them up on ebay for 1$ usually and they don't sell.

MD is an error, not a variety. It's caused by the die being loose in the chuck/holder and it slightly rotates/moves in the nanosecond after the strike and as the die is rising from the planchet. A variety is an anomaly put there on purpose by the mint(new effigy or font) or the mint floor person(like for handpunching a letter or digit to clean it up). Varieties are complete with good working machinery, proper alignment, proper pressures and good planchets

I found so many of them while roll-hunting in the 1970's to 90's that I stopped looking. I must have returned at least 100 low-grade ones back to circulation years ago.
