Had not heard of this one before, I don't follow die chips to much. Compared to coins and Canada it is a fair bit smaller but looks like one to me.

I agree, I've seen it posted on this forum in 2017 however still wondering if anyone can confirm it or has one?

I have been looking into the 2001 just recently, putting then aside, I'll check the tail when I go through them, I'm wondering if there has been any confirmed mules for the 2001 nickels.

Aww, I'll take a look anyways:) there could be mules in the proof sets, idk if anyone has been studying them other then the 3 current varieties known.
This is a separate topic and I don't Wana hijack this thread maybe someone else knows more about the bugtail errors.

Thanks Okie, looks like there's more then one type of "bug tail" being posted there. The previous thread I searched here only had one reply but that thread has many more examples of accumulations or die chips. I'll save it as that then.

Yes, as you can see from the responses from the old post that I linked, it is not die chips. It is extra metal plating pieces, evidently, that kind of pancake onto the planchet.... at least the way it was explained years ago.

Very interesting! The accumulations themselves didn't sound too uncommon based on the thread but it makes me wonder the rarity of the "bug tail" itself.

Didn't know it was not a die chip, I'll have to figure out the difference now lol.
