I'm not going to guess on the grade, but looks like a D/S to me. More interesting is area above it. Is that PMD or a strike-through? How much did you spend on this one, if you don't mind sharing?

I'm confused - what is the question?

There are several variations of this over-mintmark and only the "strong" variety commands a noticeable premium. While quite interesting, the 1938-D/S is not all that rare. (from PCGS)

That is true, these mint errors are all over ebay. The D/S and D/D. According to online only 10k of the D/S survived. However apparently even back then they were sought for and kept. I've yet to see one with two errors like this one. Not saying this is an all American find I'm saying I like the rare side it has and it's in great condition. Most of coins with the D/S error are in really bad shape or been tampered with. So most aren't of any value or worth collecting.

The question I was asking is about the online picture vs the one I took when I got it in hand. Asking y'all opinion of it is all. It seems to be legit, and I wanted to know the mint state.

That's a nice coin. Looks at least MS63, and FS-512. I like it, lamination and all.

Definitely looks like a D over S. Not your typical lam look to me. Maybe a strike through.
