ccaps97 Valued Member United States 130 Posts	Posted 12/12/2021 8:10 pm This coin along with many others were in a bag for over 100 years, 60 of them in my possession and the rest with my aunt and her parents. This nickel with its gold tone, I wonder if it might have once been passed off as a Racketeer Nickel? There were 140 nickels of which I sold maybe 50 and still have the rest, but none of rest of them have the gold tone. Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34430 Posts	Posted 12/12/2021 8:14 pm @ccap, obviously it is pretty hard to know for sure, but if your nickel doesn't have reeds cut into the edge, then I think it is less likely to be the real deal. When gold plated many were passed as $5 gold. The mint then issued an edited reverse with the word "CENTS". Member ANA and EAC "You got to lose to know how to win".
