I have a 1920 P Wheat penny that was struck over another coin how can I figure out what that other coin was was? I am new to this and hopefully you will be able to see the pictures good enough.

Post strike damage--perhaps of a semi-mechanical nature. Coin didn't leave the striking chamber in that condition.

Curious--we saw a Lincoln Cent somewhat like this several months ago, as I recall.

I know the coin has damage and the pictures don't do it justice. But when I get it under microscope were the notches are there is writing from another coin I just can't make it out.

Trust us, you're wasting your time. The coin was almost certainly in a vice at some point. It's a common occurrence, people put multiple coins in a vice to try and make fake errors, we see them all the time. Impressions of letters and design features can be left on the other coin.

You are correct, I remember that coin, it looked 'waffled' from the jaws of a vice.
