So, I have this nice 1982 Lincoln Cent made of the older copper, weighting inst 3.10g and has a deep walnut brown tone. I'm somewhat sure it's a small date too but every time I look at examples of the small date it looks similar and different. Also, on the reverse, by the "I" in UNITED there is something I'm unsure of. I think it could be doubling only because at different angles it looks as though you can see what looks like maybe the coin spun in the hub between strikes. Also on the right side of the memorial above the roof it looks like you can see a soft outline of Lincoln's hair from the front... Tell me what you think.
First off, that is a Large Date. That is a small Die Crack between the I and E. Business strike coins are only struck once so it can't spin between strikes.
So is the 1982 copper cent worth keeping? I'm still so new to numismatics they I haven't even purchased a new macro camera or even my first coin rolls or bags. Should I just pass it on, sell it as is? I just don't know.
They are common. It is a large date. The location of the '2' shows it is the large date. Also on the large date, the bottom part of the '2' when viewed upside down:
