Was wondering what y'all thought about this 1916 d it looks pretty good but has a scratch on the face that was not mentioned on the holder is that going to kill the price or is it ok. They want $600

I verified the number on the PCGS site and it is legit. The PCGS value for this is $550. I'd still like to see the mintmark area in a closeup though. With this much wear it must be almost obliterated.

If that scratch bothers you now, it'll bother you ten times that AFTER you lay down 600$ for it!

That particular coin is one that you'd be lucky to get 300$ for if you walked it around a coin show and were trying to sell it.

Their is no shortage of 16-D dimes. Take your money and add to it over the next few months and search for a coin that actually appeals to you. You'll be much happier in the long run!

Good luck!

The scratch doesn't bother me but I don't really want to get it if it kills the value bad, it's worth more than $300 one just sold on ebay in a old Anacs holder for $650 and it look like somebody drilling in the back of it, if you could buy one for $300 it would be bent and totally messed up.

I personally find that scratch distracting, looks more recent than the rest of the wear.

I'd hold off. As westernsky said, there's no shortage of 16-D's. There's a population of around 6,000 from FR02-G04 with PCGS alone. There will always be others. $600 feels overpriced to me, granted, I haven't checked the 16-d market in awhile. Just a couple years back you could easily snag an AG in the $450-$500 range.

I agree that just getting this one for that price is a bit over priced. If you check around you'll find one much better.
I checked a while back and found these:

Agree, seems pretty expensive, especially with the scratch.
