Hello Experts! This coin is bugging me for years, no idea where to search. Pointed Chin, flat hat, face to right. Other side person standing probably holding spear. 13mm 2.53g Any idea? Thank you for any comment!

I am certainly no expert, but that looks like a portrait of Maximinus Thrax. With the reverse being a the Emperor depicted standing between two Roman standards. Trouble is...the size and weight of your coin. Could it be a reduced (shaved or cut) version of a larger denomination? This altering of the original coin would remove all of the legend. Interesting!

Just enhancing the images a bit. And you know that is a lot of weight for a 13 mm Roman. If the face is smooth but gouges by the nose you might be looking at a beard and not a chin only. So try Greek or better yet Roman Provincial Greek city. Small late Romans of 13 mm are often 1-2 grams at most.

Thank you friends, and thank you Louis for the enhancement. Just double checked and it is 2.53g indeed. It is a bit thick, around 2mm+
I guess is not roman, maybe something around the Parthian empire, but I have already spent hours and hours looking all possible catalogs, all sites and everything.
But will keep searching.
Thank you again !

Quote: I guess is not roman I think it's Roman provincial, actually (and the portrait does look quite a bit like Maximinus Thrax). But I'm not sure if I could rule out a Greek or Kushan issue. It doesn't look Parthian, though. I'll check if there's anything on Zeno...

Definitely not Parthian, and I doubt it's from any Parthian sub-kingdom either. Quote: Maximinus Thrax I get this, but personally I would not exclude the possibility of a projecting beard rather than a big chin.

I have searched hours and hours on Zeno, probably all the AE coins from 11 to 14mm. I am confident there's no simmilar there. The size and aspect of the coin looks like Elymais, but all I have seen are different. Will still searching, thanks a lot friends!

Well you need more to go on so from the collective memory of reverses of provincial coins for example, what is that figure doing? Walking left? Arm reaching out or holding something? Other arm, no hint of a cornucopia over the shoulder etc. There can only be so many reverses out there and this must trigger someones mind on what that figure is doing. That would really narrow down the search.
