@erafjel - thank you for identifying the mint master's mark of a crown of thorns and two nails! The website you referenced also enabled me to identify the marks of on this franc:
1582-A Henri III, King of France and Poland,

which features the lion head of mint master Philippe Varice (1579-1591),

and a pellet inside every D for the engravers Jean I and Jean II Beaucousin (1552-1601).

I bought this from a good friend many years ago and didn't look at too closely until today. He said that he saved it from the melting pot at the gold peak in 1980.

1422-27 Half Noble of Henry VI, First Reign, Tower mint
Post-Your-Handsome-Henrys!
Obv: King standing in ship holding sword and quartered shield, annulet by sword arm, flag at stern, ships rigging with two ropes to left, and one to right, trefoil stops, legend H ENRIC DI GRA REX ANGL Z FRANC. Henry by the grace of God King of England and France.
Rev: "h" at center of compartment of ornate cross, crown over lion in each angle, annulet stops, DOMINE NE IN FVRORE TVO ARGVAS ME. O Lord rebuke me not in Thine anger.

Henry VI was the youngest person ever to succeed to the English throne at the age of nine months in September of 1422.

Obv: Crowned St. Michael the Archangel with feet on the dragon (Satan), spearing with cross-tipped staff.

Here's pair of 1/2 francs of King Henry IV of France, both struck at Toulouse, with mint mark "M", in 1602 and 1603.
