It looks like a VAM-36A although I'm not seeing the upper obverse clash remnants particularly off the right wheat stalk but it certainly has the die chips in the ear and partial E reverse. Earlier die state without the bridge crack over the mint mark so it should be a fairly strong E clash in hand.

That's what I'm hoping for. I put a detailed crop of the area beneath the tail on the grading forum and will add here as well. I think I see the "bridge crack" above the MM.

Yeah, I see it now in your cropped image. Stills looks like a nice early MDS example from the E. Later MDS and pre-36B LDS examples only have the very faint partial center trumpet of the E. I have 6 examples in various die stages from EDS 36A to 36B.

Edit to add - Good eye by the way for cherry picking a 36A from these images..

Thats a sweet Pic Dave . Really I get excited picking any E Clasher but 22A is hard to pick .I have not seen any that where not already attributed.

Thanks Jason, I was pleasantly surprised that it ended up a 22A. The seller's pictures were not the greatest and actually so bad I don't think anyone else saw it based on what I paid.

Liking the 22A, Dave! I don't do ebay, but I'm sure there are lots of goodies to be had there.

I thank you all for your continued discussion of this 36. I'm red-eyed every time I get through an auction catalog these days. Given my newbie status there are only a couple dozen VAMs that I'm actively searching for at this point. If I see something that piques my interest, I go onto VAMWorld and start digging. That's how I ended up identifying this 36. I was initially hoping for a 22, but for what I paid I figured it was worth picking up.

For the record, I'm usually paying standard Morgan prices for these coins. If they start climbing too high, I jump out unless I'm sure it's worthwhile.

The problem I have with ebay now days is the piles of crap auctions you have to sift through to find anything decent.
