oh... it was in a customer wrapped roll.

i usually dont get customer wrapped rolls but SOME banks have been really stingy these days

WOW! That's a seriously rare find and what a handsome coin too. I almost never see 1983's in circulation without a whole lot of plating bubbles or zinc exposure nowadays. This coin is surprisingly well preserved. Again, big congrats! This is a variety you rarely ever see.

at first I thought it was copper... then I looked at the EAR and thought. OK, THIS WORKS TOO!

never did weigh it but from the pictures it looks zinc.

It's definitely a zinc coin with the bit of zinc showing through around the mint mark. You don't find circulated zincolns looking this good anymore! Especially not with a variety like this. Again, an excellent find!

Looks like a Stage 'A'. The DDD hasn't become as strong as the one listed on V.V:
