It's against CCF policy to post images of the Mint's upcoming releases before they are made available to the general public.
This policy still makes no sense to me. The "general" public needs to know as much as the top
RCM buyers. Access to information shouldn't be modulated by the size of your wallet. This is bad 360 degrees all around.
I don't believe the condition is true... It is always against policy to publish
RCM created materials, not just before general release. This is not a CCF driven policy and I invite moderators or Forum Dad to correct me but this applies to any and all copyright material for which you don't have copyright or a grant of right to use. If I take a picture of anything from a coin to a Lamborghini or an old Gibson guitar, it is my photograph and by copyright law... my copyright. I can grant that right to use... as I do when I publish on CCF. There are some exclusions such as when taking pictures in Europe of people or certain things (a night shot of a lit Eiffel Tower is protected by copyright regardless of the photographer) or a shot of folks where they may reasonably expect privacy.
Were CCF to allow posting of copyright material without the grant of rights, they could be sued out of existence. If you want more examples of this, search for copyright takedowns on YouTube... You can't post a video with most commercial music as a backing track...
Since the
RCM own the copyright to the images they publish, if they don't grant you (or CCF) the right to publish then it is a violation of copyright to publicly publish that image. As to the marketing strategy, the
RCM baffle me... There have been numerous discussions on this forum as to whether their approach makes sense but as of now... it is what it is.
