I am an American but I purchase RCM products once in awhile, especially since Mint Shield. The RCM mint is way more innovative than the US mint. But honestly sometimes I wonder who buys this stuff. I guess someone does, otherwise they wouldn't make it. A recent example is the glow in the dark 2 oz zodiac coin for $229.50 CAD. It does nothing for me, as does a lot of their "artsy" stuff. I guess I am just an old fogie. Loved the polar bear, though.

Lots of modern mint product from around the World should be more accurately regarded as 'exo nummia'
I have found that in most cases, modern mint product, when sold at public auction, commands bullion value plus a small premium.
That is despite the fact that modern mint product is manufactured to very high minting standards.

"Meh" does not surprise me.

There are rare cases however, where a mint product can command multiples of the original issue price. Such an example is the 2009 U.S Mint Ultra High Relief one ounce Double Eagle.

One person's "innovative" is another's "gimmicky."
