Hope I am not boring you all , this error keeps turning up in different degrees for each year that it occurs.
Wondering what other year dates you can find this die clash on?
Why do some years have stronger and multiple areas of die clash than others?
The 2013 coin has more defined and more clash marks than this 2005 coin?
The pressure from the machine when pressing should be constant?
Are some dies weaker than others?
You can see the claw and end of the nose on the obverse and a couple of marks on the reverse.
Gotta go.... more coins to noodle.

Not boring me, just making me envious.

Never found one in 13 years of noodling. (Although 5 cents are definitely my least noodled denomination)

Keep up the good effort.

Probably - I'm sure they're always testing new dies.

Nice finds anyway - I never look that closely at the 5c pieces I get.

When a die clash occurs the first coins after the clash are more pronounced. As more and more coins are minted the pressure on the die gradually wears the clash and eventually disappears. In some cases the die is polished to get rid of the clash marks on the die.

Thanks for the reply airgem, seems some clashes on that coin are stronger than others. You cannot blame any one for these errors I guess ,but noticing it is a human factor in how many are produced.
