Progress has been a bit slow for my fractional note set lately, but I did receive this 5 cent third issue note today (Fr#1239). I found this a fairly attractive example, even though there is a little bit of ink smear on the back. I'm not a fan of the inserts you sometimes see for fractional notes in PMG holders. They seem to be highly reflective and make it a bit more difficult for taking pictures.

Thanks, hfjacinto! I hesitated a bit on it because of the ink smears on the back, but they aren't really too noticeable and (in my mind) don't take away from the eye appeal.

I received this note yesterday, a 10 cent first issue, Fr#1240, with perforated edges and monogram. I'm quite happy with this one; the centering on the front is quite good and it has full perforations.

5 cents was in some file? It looks like the banknote is in a wrapper and then put in a slab PMG.

@Slerk, I have a number of fractional notes in PMG holders with what appears to be an additional plastic sleeve around the note (it's very noticeable in my photo of the 5 cent note you refer to).
I've tried to find out when PMG was doing this and why this was done, but haven't really found out any information. All of my fractional notes are in PMG holders, but only a few have this extra sleeve.

Thanks, hfjacinto!
One of these days (probably a long while off) I'm going to surprise you with a national gold bank note of California! When I do it'll likely be my lowest graded note, as for even the most available of these anything above a GD-4 is pretty darn expensive!

My latest fractional note, a 10 cent third issue which is hand-signed with red back. It has a bit of an uneven top margin and some ink smear on the back, but I was pleased overall with this example. I like that there is very little ink bleed-through on the reverse from the signatures.
