Stunning look. Those scratches and the gouge hurt it. High AU with slight wear. Nice die crack running through the ribbon and out the 8.

I submitted it as an impaired Proof. It has the square rims and flat fields of a proof strike but it also has that ding and scratches.
The Tru-View shows more pink than the token in hand.
PCGS called it MS62RB.

I would have called it an impaired proof as well.

Just out of curiosity what was your PCGSturnaround time on this? I have a submission that is now closing in on 7 months sitting in "Encapsulation" ........

If there are objective technical standards that inarguably prove it as a proof, resub for your PR grade and state your case on the form, hope they don't 'get you back' with a details grade for the scratches. They can and do screw up, even big stuff. I have an 1861 Italy coin in high mint state where they missed... the mintmark...

Saw this one in hand, I agree with Gene on it being an impaired proof
It's a beautiful piece in hand

I guess I feel a little better. My submission is a bunch of quite tricky cross grades. Really hoping for them soon.

Same concern as @coinfrog - the dig and the odd little scratches. Those scratches don't look like what you get during a harsh cleaning...just some little misfortune from the past 185 years. Overall though, it hardly matters - I don't think I've ever seen such eye appeal on one of those. Absolutely top drawer. Congrats....jealous!
