morgans dad said... Quote: I do Not see the Lines you speak of WHERE you have marked, I Do see the " discernible line pattern across the devices " To the Right of Your Red Lines. My bad. I wasn't using the lines as a locator, but more as a indicator of the alignment of the lines. I didn't make that as clear as I should have. @Dearborn It's strange, but both images came from the same RAW image file. The closeup is just processed at a much higher 'sharpness' in Photoshop. When I first saw this I thought it was just a digital artifact, along the same lines a taking a picture of a video screen and catching a moire pattern, but I can see it on the coins when looking through a 30X illuminated loupe.

MD,
THANKS!
My Peace Proof subscription order went from "Processing", to "Back Ordered", back to "Processing" and then to "Shipped" all in a span of around 48 hours.
Sitting at my desk watching for my letter carrier. Since it's a jillion degrees here in north Tx I try to meet my letter carrier at his truck so he can keep on the move as he finishes this route around noon. He then takes lunch and then does another route this afternoon if needed. I'll offer him a frozen bottle of water, too! He's been our carrier for about 15 years and he does a heck of a job! I dread the day he retires, moves up or hangs the job up. I know it's tough, especially when it's pizza oven hot like it's been here most of this Summer. Hopefully, we'll get a break around Labor Day!

If Yoko talking about the 2 dark gray lines on the side of the red ones would you call those error marks or what.

Morgans - 39,640 Peace - 52,040 That's a lot considering mostly everyone who wanted one already place their order. If the big dealers don't swallow those up they'll be around for a couple more weeks.

The red and gray lines are just an overlay to show the alignment angle of the pattern. My observation was about how pebbled etching catches the light and forms straight lines across all of the portrait.

Just opened up my Peace. Gotta give props to the Mint on this one. This was the most neatly packaged product I've ever received from them. The box was sitting on the center of a bed of bubble wrap with the sides enveloped around it so as not to move during transit. No bent edges on the COA. No scratches or lint anywhere on the capsule. And to top it off Peace herself looking as perfect a 70 as you can get. I'm sure we all have horror stories of getting sub par packages from the Mint but every once in a while you get lucky. My Morgan was pushed back to tomorrow so fingers crossed I can go 2 for 2.

Anyone know what that little symbol is on the obverse above the number 3? The mints website doesn't mention it in their description.

My three Morgan proofs showed up this morning in my mail box. They also came from the Irving Texas facility.
One of the coins had some minor debris in the capsule so I popped it open and hit it with a blast of canned air and cleaned it out. Looks well now. The other two coins look perfect, no problems.
I am very pleased with all my coins. Woohoo!
