While it's small hope that my local bank will get some anytime soon in the future, it sure won't stop me from asking! Congrats to all of you who were able to attend.

Going to the post office with those was a very genius thing to do......very smart chap !..

But personally, I wouldn't pay more for rolls from that event, over the same rolls from my bank.
I KNOW SOME WILL THOUGH !! AND THAT IS JUST CAPITOL !
And I still wonder if we'll be able to buy business strike rolls (P & D Sets) from the Mint ?......

Funny how life repeats itself...

About the Flying Eagle cents on May 25, 1857 in Philadelphia: A crowd assembled for the opening day of distribution and two long lines (one for silver exchange, the other for copper) formed in the Mint courtyard and outside as well. One had to exchange at least five dollars worth of coins and the Mint had made up little sacks of cents containing 500 pieces. There was so much demand for these new coins, instantly dubbed "nicks," that those at the end of the line were willing to pay two or Three Cents for one of them.

I called the U.S. Mint this morning. They told me the Lincoln Cent was not available and did not know when it would be available for purchase. I read to the sales person the press release from February 12 that they were released. No additional comment from the sales representative.
So much for "Change" in government. Bunch of misinformation and incompetence.

The mint has stated a "spring" release date for numismatic 2009 cents. They only spoke of in person sales and exchanges starting Feb. 12th for circulating cents.

I assume circulating rolls will go on sale in March but you never know. They will release them "as needed" and not necessarily when we want them.

Congratulations to those lucky ones who went to this wonderful event. What an event to remember! The cents are quite striking to the eye!

I was wondering if they would choose to ignore the law with reference to the obverse. I see they did. The law required them to use the original Brenner design

SEC. 305. SENSE OF THE CONGRESS.

It is the sense of the Congress that the original Victor David

Brenner design for the 1-cent coin was a dramatic departure from

previous American coinage that should be reproduced, using the

original form and relief of the likeness of Abraham Lincoln, on

the 1-cent coins issued in 2009.

That is not the original form and relief of the likeness of Abraham Lincoln. And the Brenner design did not have initials on the shoulder.
