Georgia 10 tetri 1993, featuring St. Mamas riding a lion. As usual, I apologize for the crud. My next entry is 1990 unless I bother to make some more pics.

1992, another year New Zealand issued zilcho for circulation. An over abundance of coins in the late 1980s were still being released and 1992 was the height of the early 90s recession. These are commemorative $5 coins celebrating Columbus 500 years and Tasman 350 years. Other 2 coins are mythical Maori "explorer" Kupe and James Cook 3 Australian coins are shown here, a basic $2 and 10c and 5c. No 50c or 20c were issued for circulation and the $1 was the Olympics coin shown above.

A full set of the UK coins issued for circulation in 1992... One penny. Coins in BU and Proof sets were made of bronze (as had all 1p and 2p coins since their introduction in 1971). Coins for circulation were copper-clad steel and slightly thicker, but the same diameter: Two pence - same composition as the penny: Five pence: Ten pence. This was the first issue of the new smaller-size 10p coin, slightly larger than a US quarter. Large-size 10ps and pre-decimal florins were demonetised at the end of the year. A large-size 1992 10p was struck, but only for BU and Proof sets, plus a limited edition of silver large and small 10p's in a plush case: Twenty pence. The Maklouf portrait of the Queen was slightly enlarged on this coin in 1992 when compared to coins minted from 1985-91. 1992 20p's with the small head are supposed to exist but I've never found one! Fifty pence. This coin commemorated the UK's period of Presidency of the European Union. The reverse design is supposed to represent the delegates' chairs around a table. Only 135,366 were minted and I never found one in change - this one came from a spare BU set that I broke up. A Britannia 50p was also issued but in BU and Proof sets only: £1 coin showing an oak tree - symbol of England. The reverses of this coin changed every year to represent the four nations within the UK. Unfortunately the multiple reverse designs helped to make the coin a magnet for forgers as nobody knew what a genuine pound coin was supposed to look like!
