Question...Is it possible to have a coin minted the same year from the same mint bur the person in it look completely different? See the dimes below. Roosevelt's do not look alike. Secondly, I think my eyes are started to play tricks on me looking at coins so much.

to the CCF The one on the right is struck up better than the other one. Maybe a difference with new dies verses older dies. Left one might be a little lighter in weight than the other one. A lot of factors.

Try to see how fir with 2015P and 2017P. Some time the Mint change a little bit the design. I see the left coin been lower relief then the right coin. Those changes are done versus the end of the year and for a reason or other the new hub is use to produce the necessary Dies to finish the production. I have no information yet about the changes for 2017 so I can not say exact if was a change. If it is this are mean you will have a transitional coin in your hand, but this hypothesis must be confirmed.

Right dime looks to have been minted using a fresh die as opposed to one that has seen a lot of work and is worn down.

Am I the only one who noticed that the mintmark position on the Roosevelt dimes was adjusted slightly beginning with the 2009 coins?
I know I'm not seeing things because I've seen coins from the 90s and 2000s (after the mint stopped hand punching the mintmarks) and the position on those is closer to the date than the ones made from 2009 to the present.

Each year can have a different design feature so comparing them to the same year, they will be the same. (All created from the same master hub for that year/mint. Possibly the one on the right is a fresher die state, thus the devices are fresher/slightly larger. The one of the left it may have had the die polished, thus altering the size of the devices. (Motto devices are thinner on the coin on the left) Also the one on the left is showing DDD starting to show on the Liberty area. As they are polished even more, the devices really get altered:
