The seller warned that there were spots on the coin, but I wanted so much to have an American eagle in PCGS and at an affordable price that I didn't even notice it right away. My question is whether it is normal that there are some spots on the edge of the coin and in the center of the coin. I have heard that such stains are not uncommon on modern silver coins.

Looks like a water spot and for sure should not be on a proof coin.It would bother me so I would not own one with a spot.

Could be a water spot or a 'milk spot' that silver gets and possible tarnish or toning on the rim. This is probably why it got a PR69 grade. It is still a nice looking coin. Although that spot in the middle would bother me a bit.

Just be glad its not a Canadian silver coin. Those develop milk spots all the time even when they are in a slab.
