I retire today, after 31 years in the Northern Territory Police. I had a photo taken last Friday, with my boys, William 5 y.o. (nearer to me), and Jack 6 y.o.

Peter, Congratulations on your retirement (we want to hear what you plan in you "spare time")! ... and two fines young lads you have there! Guess that answers the "spare time" question.

Congratulations, somehow you look something like I thought you did. Nice kids too. They look like twins. Thank you for your service in making the world a better and safer place.

Congratulations to Peter THOMAS! At 50 years old, I still have a 15 year old and a 10 year old at home and 2 in college. Can't see retirement for some time.
Enjoy your boys while they are young. Good Luck r

Sorry, folks, I don't even own a picture of myself other than my driver's and steam engineer's liscence. I know what I look like, and really it isn't pretty (just kidding, I'm gorgeous ). I just wanted to say that it's good to see so many veterans on this site! I know you wouldn't knnow it by the forum name, but I'm a 12 year Navy veteran myself. 1980-1992. Served in Beirut in the 80's and in the first Gulf War (come on, "desert storm" makes it sound like a movie. It was a war, people died, let's call it as such!). Like the other members have all said, I just want to say thanks to all the other vets! It's also nice to see such a varied group of people here!

Just kinda stumbled on to this post. I will warn you now insure your computer screen before looking at the pics, I can't be held responsible if your screen cracks. This is a picture of me and a couple of my weblo scouts in 2004. Their first winter camping experience. Was supposed to be mid 30s over night and clear all week-end, we ended up with 6 inches of snow Friday night and 12 inches Saturday night and it got down to minus 5 both nights. None of the scouts froze, they did how ever find out the importance of staying dry and body heat. (I'm the feller wearing the funny looking hat if you couldn't figure it out) This is me at sea in 2006 protecting the country by staying hidden under the water. Kie

I hope that's a mess hall and not the missile launcher! Thanks for serving! I was in the USN too but on the flight deck of the Carrier CV60 Saratoga long ago. I could never deal with being on a Sub. I almost freaked out looking at a reef on one in Hawaii at the great depth of 150 feet. LOL I am very claustrophobic. I can't even work indoors.

Didn't think I would like submarines either, always being outdoors growing up. After I saw how many people were on the aircraft carriers and how few on subs I signed right up (more scared of people than tight spaces). You get used to it pretty quickly and unless were doing testing you really don't notice the going up and down, all seems pretty natural now. Kie

Somehow I missed posting in this thread My wife and I went downtown for the weekend All-Star game festivities this summer. Arches were placed in several locations throughout the city to promote the game so we posed at the St. Louis All-Star game hosting history arch. This one was in Kiener Plaza, just north of the stadium.

Bullnuke, what boat is that and are you stil active? I was on the Will Rogers. I can't believe it was 20 years ago already. Seems like yesterday. I was an FTB when they still had them. I think at some point they were combined with the MT's weren't they? Anyhoo, well done my friend.

That was the Dallas, I was also on the Phoenix, Montpilier, Jacksonville, Newport News (all 688class) the Finback (637 class) and one of your brother ships the Uslysses S Grant. I am a Machinist Mate nuclear (glow in the dark) and still currently active, doing my last 2 years on shore duty repairing the subs. Yes the FTB rating was disbanded and merged with the MTs quite a few years back. Notice your icon is Penn State, I have kinfolk in the Lockhaven area, my uncle was the judge there for about 30 years he retired in the mid to late 90s I think. Also one of my old COs was in charge of the ROTC detachment at State college in late 90s early 00s, he retired and still lives in the area, still keep in touch with him, nice guy. Kie
