Rhodium is over $17K CAD per ounce so that's not a possibility for a coin struck for circulation. I hear there are a total of 6 million to be minted. 5 million will be released to banks and the other 1 million will be released by The Royal Canadian Mint in various formats including special wrap rolls of 25 coins which will likely be $79.99.

I happened to be driving by the Winnipeg Mint today with my wife and three kids, and I dragged them all in there so that we could each get the two coin limit.
Even thought this coin will have a higher mintage than other recent commemorative toonies, do you think it will have a higher value for collectors, much like the glow-in-the-dark toonie of 2017? And do you think this release is an indication that this will be the last circulation coin minted with the Queen's effigy?

I need to check out the Bay for these. Hopefully they are reasonably priced.

Colonial Acers has had them for sale for the last couple of days, singles going for $4.85 over 400 sold, rolls have been sold out. But at 3:30pm they put up 30 rolls for $77 sold out in 30 minutes, then they must have put more up because I looked later and 2 rolls left. Anyway I have mine.

I was briefly tempted to buy a roll from CA. But after shipping and tax, that's essentially double face value. All I need is one.

I just went to get lottery tickets for stocking stuffers and got one in my change. Better than a minor lotto prize to me. The dark ring is definitely not painted as some have suggested. if I have time I'll post pics later.

I have had the same response that MSshilling has from the banks. They do not bring in new coins because they have more than enough to satisfy their commercial clients. It is the courier services that distribute the coins to the banks so they are the ones that control the distribution of new coins. The banks cannot specify that they want new coins just that they need a new supply of coins. This is what I have been told by several banks in my area. I have found the best places to get these coins are the establishments that use currency not cards. Example the bottle depot or Tim Hortons I have had the best luck.

Hmmm. My Bank brings them in weekly (RBC) and I'm told a roll of the LP toonies is waiting there for me. I'll post photos later if it comes to fruition.
