1979 Quarter With Obverse And Reverse Errors-Help

Nikosmom New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 02/27/2023 08:19 am These are errors, but I am not sure what type error they they would be classified as? Rim Error on Reverse? Obverse it looks as though the IN God We Trust is smeared to the point of being partially missing. What is this referred to as? This coin has many DDO and DDR errors, but these two I am unsure of what they are. Help please. Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

The grease prevented the forming of these devices. Thus they are the normal width, but the grease prevented the tops of the devices to narrow. The devices are tapered at the tops. Thus they dies are not attached to the coin. Thus they fall off the die and the dies are ready to strike the next planchet: Thus the shortness of the devices and why they appear to be wider than normal. Report this Post to the Staff
