I am wondering if this coin contains any silver? It s a neat coin. also Picked up what I believe is a nickel. Neater than pockets ona shirt. Is this some kind of hedge hog? Sorry I don;t mean to be ignorant just we never see any coins like this here in Nebraska. Thanks All.

The shilling and the 3 pence maundy do contain silver

The 5c Aussie is an Echidna

And the upper right one...which I assume to be Austrian does not have any silver. I don't think...what denomination is it?

Which coin?

The shilling is .500 silver

The 5 cents (Don't think they are called nickels in Oz but I could be wrong) has a short-beaked spiny anteater on it. Not a hedgehog. I think hedgehogs are a European phenomenon. That coin is copper-nickel

I have seen a coin with a hedgehog on, but I can't think for the minute what it was. I think it may have been from Eastern Europe somewhere?

The threepence is British and is .925 Silver

the other one I would need to see the other side. It looks Russian or Finnish maybe. Although there are a lot of those type of Eagles out there!

Good call on Austria. I see the hammer and sickle now. Possibly Aluminium then? 2 Groschen post WWII

Yup, it's aluminum, or... aluminium for QuickSilver

Face value is a tenth of a Eurocent, but it looks UNC!

Wow, I honestly didn't see the photo before putting that answer up!

Definitely Aluminium, not Aluminum. Same part of the periodic table as all the other iums. A perpetuated spelling error somewhere down the line.

Not to nit pick, but it is a Merino ram, and my favourite series of coins. And the 5c piece is a 5c piece. All Aussie coins are rather boringly named by their denomination, 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent, 1 dollar and 2 dollars. We're an imaginative lot, hey? What year is the 5c? 1972 is the key.

Edit to add made my pillardom in the Aussie section, nice coincidence.
