1995-P Lincoln Memorial Cent - Raised Streak Of Metal

dbrablec Pillar of the Community United States 1944 Posts	Posted 03/15/2009 3:54 pm in my ongoing quest for varieties, and/or errors that might be of interest, I have found this 1995P cent. there is a raised streak of metal starting just above pluribus continuing south on the coin through the Lincoln memorial and nearly to the bottom of the coin. I am not sure what it is called but I am fairly certain it is not damage - nor an ordinary part of a normal coin. information is appreciated. thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 03/16/2009 11:05 am No. The line is straight and soft-edged. That's definitely NOT a die crack. It's actually an elongated gas bubble where something was on the strip of metal that was eventually cut into blanks, upset, then plated in copper. The copper didn't properly adhere to the stripe of inpurity and you end up with this. This sort of thing is actually pretty common. Report this Post to the Staff
