Has a coppery, slightly brassy tone. Green corrosion splotchy on obverse and reverse, but dominant all around edge, associated with copper?

Hard to say what exactly has caused this surface discoloration, but I would assume that it comes from something that happened to this coin after it left the mint. For example, this coin may have spent some time in a water fountain.

My first thought was a fountain coin.

Yep, this coin has spent time in a water feature for a long time before getting rescued and getting placed back into circulation.

Yes, I'm on-board with the water fountain issue. I've seen very similar in the past.
