A lamination error is when a fragment of metal is peeled of the surface of the coin. This occurs when dirt or another substance is stuck in the metal strip used for blanks and is stuck in the metal strip as it is rolled out to the standards of its use.look closely at the letter ( U ) in the word (Quarter). Are there anymore quarters like this one with the same error or is this a lucky find?

to the Community!

Any "W" quarter is worth more than face value. You are off to a good start!

However, better pictures will be needed to help you.

Looks dinged and discolored, but hard to tell what happened to the U in QUARTER from this photo.

Simpleman, could you provide a tighter (and more focused) view of the area in question? Thanks!

Grease, or another obstruction of some sort, most likely caused the problem you are seeing with the "U" in qUarter. Minor error. Worth more as "W" anyway.
