Blastenpene4 Pillar of the Community United States 959 Posts	Posted 07/17/2023 9:03 pm This drives me nuts. I kind of like the condition of this coin (except for the small hits to chin and neck). Interesting variety (early die state as well) that I'm thinking grades at EF40/45, but those surfaces have had something crazy done to them. Is this the case of a cleaning and retoning? Also, what's going on at 7 on the reverse rim? Is that a repair attempt? Dentils look wrong in addition to the stuff that looks something like solder. Eager to learn something here, and thanks. I see the initial eye appeal. I see a very high grade 1851 N-19 that says the lines on the reverse are die flow lines, though they were maybe die clash. I have a lot to learn still. panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18823 Posts	Posted 07/18/2023 10:58 am solid XF45 in my book. as for the rest of the coin, photos as we know can be deceiving. the surfaces could be from an older cleaning and retone. that rim at K7 reverse to me looks like a repair. I see several small rim issues reverse and could see this area as a larger rim hit and repaired. this is not a coin I would consider Report this Post to the Staff
