It looks like circulation damage. The coin has just seen a lot of miles over the last 57 years. Post Mint Damage or PMD.

You really don't need to note that the coin has no mint mark. Most of the time it just means the coin was minted in Philadelphia, but in this case, none of the coins minted in the US in '65, '66 and '67 have mint marks.

They stopped using them at the end of 1964 and started again in 1968. There was a huge coin shortage when the mint switched from 90% silver to Clad. Everyone hoarded the old coins and wouldn't spend them. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coi..._Act_of_1965

@moo, I agree that the digits in the date are showing circulation flattening. I also not that there are no known DDOs for the 1966 Dimes:

Moodi76,
Please tell us where you are seeing doubling. Also,it is called a doubled die not a double die. Best to properly crop photos before posting them.Looks like you need to filter your light a bit,too much glare.

I'm seeing an average, circulated '66 dime with some hits and dings--especially on the rim..

Just a damaged coin with lots of circulation wear. PMD. No Doubled Die.
